As a former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and a former Indian Minister of State for Human Resource Development and External Affairs, he has a wealth of experience in international affairs. He chaired Parliament’s Standing Committees on External Affairs and Information Technology during his third term as a Lok Sabha member from Thiruvananthapuram.
