Grandma’s Bag of Stories PDF
Who can resist a good story, especially when it’s being told by Sudha Murthy? From her bag emerge tales of kings and cheats, monkeys and mice, bears and gods. Their stories entertain, educate, and provide hours of enjoyment. So come, why don’t you too join in the fun?
Very nice stories, perfect for reading to children. Very lucid grammar was used. Really good. Aged 8-9 onwards will be able to read by him/herself. A few well-drawn black-and-white pictures are there along with the stories. This book speaks a lot about how villages were in the earlier days. People would live in harmony and there was joy, sharing, and togetherness.
Sudha Murthy’s books PDF is an excellent collection of stories. Very well put together by Sudha Murthy. Each story builds up an air of curiosity for the reader and teaches a valuable lesson at the end. It’s fun and entertaining for kids and adults equally. Teaches morals required for the children of this generation which are not taught in schools now. Awesome book for kids. Multiple short stories within a story. That too with a social message. Well written in simple language. Also introduces kids to village life and simple things that bring us Indian.
The narration of the stories is simple & quick which makes the books more interesting. Initial stories are a little old-tailed but as the book progress to further stories, they are all kind of fun and educative. These are good to narrate to young kids, or if you want the kids to get into a habit of reading, along with passing a message.
My grandmother, Krishnaa, popularly known as Krishtakka, was very bright and affectionate. She was also a great storyteller. She never gave us any sermons but taught us the values of life through her stories. Those stories and values remain with me even now.
I spent my childhood carefree, and stress-free, with my cousins and grandparents in my hometown Shiggaon, a sleepy town in north Karnataka. We shared everything there, whatever we had, and that became a great bond among us cousins. The binding force was my grandmother.
I made some changes when I wrote the stories in this book but mostly it is a true reflection of my childhood. When my granddaughter Krishnaa was born, she elevated me to the position of grandmother. I realized more than ever the importance of stories, and how much they help children to learn. I hope, with these stories, children and parents will understand the unique relationship between the three generations and will continue to create bonds of love with one another and the older generations in their families.
