About the book
This is the story of Juliet and Nate. Their silent parking lot battle is forced into a whole new realm as they spend hours on the elevator waiting for rescue, fighting to keep warm amidst the freezing Chicago Winter. This forced proximity of course leads to deep conversations and the realization that there’s so much more beneath the surface than what they each assumed of each other. A true friendship and more develops after that day.
Both characters have unique family dynamics that keep them from feeling 100% accepted. The family side of this story goes SO much deeper than most romcoms I’ve read and I LOVED that aspect of it. The backhanded compliments and tension between family members felt so realistic. You’ll find yourself aching for some and rooting for others. We get not one, but two amazing older characters in this book – the coolest grandmother ever and a sweet neighbor. Older, wiser characters are always a plus for me.
