This book was how you do alternative history! This is how you do a strong, independent female discovering the truth that’s been buried and twisted. The one-star off is only because some things were a bit too abrupt. The good stuff was a bit… not good enough and the vampire stuff was rushed and not in-depth enough. I will reread this over Blood and Ash any day and wish it had been longer and more detailed. A beautiful love story, though I will say the heated scenes were a little rushed but still worth every minute I spent reading this well-thought-out story.
