About the book
Shutout by Avery Keelan dives deep into the complications that arise when attraction collides with unexpected circumstances. Seraphina’s sudden upheaval in her life leads to moving in with her brother Chase Carter. After discovering the hottest one-night stand of her life was with none other than her brother’s roommate Tyler Donahue, adds a layer of tension and complexity to the already complex situation.
The novel appears to skillfully navigate the internal conflict and emotional rollercoaster both characters face. Seraphina’s dilemma of wanting to steer clear of her brother’s best friend while finding herself drawn to him creates a captivating dynamic. The contrast between her desire to avoid him and her growing feelings likely adds depth and tension to their interactions. Tyler proved his worth by getting her to open up to him. I loved that they developed a deep friendship first, then they decided to take their relationship to the next level. The story really delves deep into building the relationship between the two characters. I loved how it really went into Seraphina’s ADD diagnosis and her daily struggle with this. I think this really can hit home to readers as a lot of people struggle with this on a daily basis. Although I don’t struggle with ADD myself I could connect with Seraphina’s struggles on a human level.
