Western Political Thought OP Gauba PDF

An introduction to Western Political Thought is intended to give a short overview of the tradition of political thought from Socrates to the present. In the beginning, it discusses the nature of political thought and its interpretation, followed by an examination of various traditions of political thought and their leading thinkers.

A number of traditions are included with this text, such as Early Classical, Renaissance, Liberal (including Neo-liberalism), Conservative, Utilitarian, Enlightenment, Idealist, Marxist (including Neo-Marxism), Feminist, Communitarian, and Environmentalist traditions.

Among the leading thinkers, it dwells on the contribution of Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Machiavelli, Locke, Hobbes, Rousseau, Rawls, Burke, Nozick, Bentham, J.S. Mill, Kant, Hegel, Green, Marx, Engels, Lenin, Mao Zedong, Rosa Luxemburg, Gramsci, Hannah Arendt, and Michael Oakeshott, apart from a host of thinkers associated with Feminist, Communitarian and Environmentalist traditions. Comparative and critical analyses have been conducted on all aspects of political thought.

Readers will find the book to be easy to read. In-depth concepts are explained using headings and subheadings, explanatory diagrams, flow charts, and comparative charts. Several crisp quotations, a definition on-the-spot of important terms, and a description of historical references are included in boxes. The concept clearance requires reading this book, and only then can you read Brain Nelson’s or other famous books of western political thought.
