Wish You Were Here PDF
Whenever Picoult writes, her books are thought-provoking and based on complex emotions. This book is written in Picoult’s usual fluid style, which draws the reader quickly into the story of Diana, Finn, and Gabriel. At the beginning of the story, Finn is a surgical resident at a NY hospital, and Covid serves as a backdrop. Diana works at Sotheby’s as an artistic associate.
Diana continues the trip alone since it is already paid for and a considerable expenditure, while Finn is prevented from going on his long-awaited romantic vacation to the Galápagos Islands with Diana. Their family of Gabriel meets Diana while she is on lockdown. In the middle of the book, Picoult created a mind-bending twist in the plot that made me realize I was mistaken. Throughout the novel, the reader will be confronted with the fragility of life, the power of love, and the very nature of reality.
There is so much more to this book than a pandemic; it is about how we rethink our priorities during difficult times. The story opens in New York City just as COVID is starting to spread, and soon the reader is taken on an expedition to a Galapagos island that has closed its borders to prevent the spread of the virus. Diana still has feelings of guilt about leaving her doctor’s boyfriend, knowing that she left him in the middle of something bad and getting worse.
The isolation of this island is in stark contrast to the isolation that COVID is causing back home, and Diana has trouble accepting this. She experiences unexpected life changes during her extended time in Galapagos, as a result of her extended time in Galapagos. It takes the reader on a journey that will stay with you and is well worth reading, even though it doesn’t allow the reader to escape from COVID’s reality. Intricate, believable characters are woven into a well-developed storyline by Jodi Picoult.
There is so much to find in this book that people will enjoy over and over again, as it is both relevant to the time period and also encourages us to take that new path and see what happens. During the Covid pandemic, the author wrote a novel based on a true story about a tourist trapped on an island. She describes the symptoms of Covid, nursing fatigue, hospitalizations, and recovery accurately in her research. Covid patients often had induced comas and were on ventilators.
Readers can learn about what life is like for the characters in her book when they are in a coma through the characters’ viewpoints. Although they seem to be absent from this world, their minds are not blank. Their dreams about other lives are very realistic while they are sleeping. The novel Wish You Were Here explores what it means to be human, examining love, resilience, courage, and hope in the face of a global pandemic that shattered so many lives. This book will be appreciated and loved by a lot of readers.
